Drivetrain Rebuild

CALL US : 775-242-7209
The terms driveline, powertrain, and drivetrain are often used interchangeably because they refer to the same thing: the system of components that take power from your engine to your wheels. In addition to the gearbox, the other components of the drivetrain are the driveshaft, the axles, and the wheels themselves.
All drivetrains are not built the same way of course. Front-wheel drivetrains only transmit power to the front wheels while the rear wheels are “dragged.” Rear-wheel drives operate on a similar principle, only that power is transmitted to the rear wheels this time.

Four-wheel drive vehicles have driveshafts that transmit engine power individually to each wheel. This makes a vehicle easier to control on rough terrain.

Due to its wealth of moving parts, a drivetrain will suffer natural wear and tear, and once it reaches its breaking point, your vehicle will be grounded until you can replace all the worn-out components.

Universal Joint (U-joint)

The Universal Joint (U-joint) allows the driveshaft to transmit power to the wheels in any direction, such as when turning a corner.

Constant Velocity (CV) joints, on the other hand, exist to ensure the wheels maintain a constant speed of rotation.

Axle Shafts

Axle shafts are positioned on either side of the differential. It’s their rotation that turns the wheels.

Heavy Equipment Repair Services Reno can maintain, repair, and rebuild drivetrains for all kinds of heavy equipment.

Driveshaft

The driveshaft runs from the transmission to the wheels. It translates mechanical energy from the engine to the wheel and causes them to turn.

Differential Repair

The differential is the final link between the engine and the axles. It’s what allows vehicles to turn.

Regular maintenance is instrumental to proper operation and repairs need to be conducted as soon as they are necessary.

Differential

The differential is a set of gears that transmit power from the driveshaft to the wheels. The differential is the final link to the axles. The gears of the differential are what rotate the wheels.

Four-wheel drive vehicles have front and rear differentials while others have only one differential. Its importance makes differential maintenance crucial.

Clutch Repairs

Clutches disengage the engine from the gearbox, allowing your vehicle to idle without needing to kill the engine. Like many vehicular components, clutches experience wear and tear and will eventually need replacement after a couple of years.

Transmission

Your transmission system regulates the amount of power going from the engine to the wheels. The transmission is one of the lesser repaired parts of any vehicle but over a long enough use time, it will need to be repaired or replaced. That's where we come in. We are experts in all kinds of transmission systems.

A faulty transmission can cause a lot of power imbalance issues and unresponsiveness while driving and also increase the wear and tear on your engine. Leave the transmission unrepaired and your vehicle will stop moving entirely. Heavy Equipment Repair Services Reno offers repairs and fixes to every transmission problem imaginable.
